I saw this quote in a comment over at Hipster Runoff, a place that I sometimes despise but sometimes visit anyway.
This commenter was dead on though. Music is meant to be enjoyed. I’ll never get the point of hating something because “indie-folk is so 2k9,” or “the AnCo brand is so over.”
Dislike Animal Collective/Panda because you don’t like the sound, but what’s the point hating them because (and I quote) “AnCo fever has ‘been dead’ 4 a while.
Carles writes clever satire, but HRO has become the E! News of the (indie) blogosphere. The problem (and I honestly believe this) is that about half his audience don’t get what he’s trying to say, and end up taking posts like this seriously.
